What We Do

Water Out, And Kept Out

Basement Waterproofing

Finding where the water actually gets in — stone foundations weep through mortar, block walls seep at the floor joint — and stopping it at the cause, not painting over the symptom.

Basement Waterproofing →

French Drains

The job Dean's reviews talk about most: perimeter drain at the footing, graduated pipe, crushed stone, into a sump pit. One customer reports his is still bone dry eight years on.

French Drains →

Sump Pumps & Backups

Properly sized pits, reliable pumps, and backup systems that keep working through an outage — one customer's ran a day and a half on backup through a winter storm.

Sump Pumps & Backups →

Foundation Crack Repair

Honest assessment first: freeze–thaw winters work cracks open in this area's block and stone walls. Repairs that seal the water path, and a straight answer when a crack is nothing to worry about.

Foundation Crack Repair →

Crawl Space Moisture Control

Drainage and moisture control for crawl spaces under additions and older homes, so damp air and rot stop working on the house from underneath.

Why Dean

The Person Who Quotes The Job Does The Job

01

Owner-Operated, Based In Ambler

Dean lives and works right here — his shop is on Forest Avenue in the borough. When you call, you get Dean, not a call center reading a script three states away. The big regional franchises send a salesman first; here, the person who looks at your basement is the person who fixes it.

02

Honest About What It Needs

His reviews say it plainly: 'fair price and he is very honest.' Customers who collected competing estimates found his right in line — and came back for their next project. If a crack is cosmetic or a cheap fix will do, that's what you'll hear.

03

Work That Holds Up

One customer's french drain has kept his basement dry for eight years and counting. Another's backup sump ran through a day-and-a-half power cut in a winter storm without letting a drop in. This area's clay soil and old foundations don't forgive shortcuts, and Dean doesn't take them.

I have used Dean 3 times on rehab projects - 2 french drains and 1 french drain and the walls redone. All work was completed timely and the work work professional and they cleaned up and were gone. I got a few estimates and he was right in there with competitors. Will continue to use.

Dean came out a couple of years ago and did a french drain for us and while he was at it, he put a drain around the water heater. So when the water heater went yesterday and we discovered it this morning, NOTHING in our just finished basement got wet. I would highly recommend Dean. He does great work at a fair price and he is very honest. He saved us a lot of heartache and money.

Dean and his crew did a French drain in our basement. We had water in for any moderate rainfall. They came prepared and the job was done very quickly with no mess. He explained what they were doing before they started and there were enough people on the crew that they flew through the grunt work. 8 years later, not a hint of water or dampness, the work is top notch. Highly recommended.

Dean is the man!!! He's the real deal. I recently had a terrible experience with another waterproofing company that I fired halfway through their job. Dean was basically Mr. Wolf from Pulp Fiction, he came in and cleaned up someone else's mess. He installed a full perimeter pressure relief system with graduated PVC and tons of crushed stone leading to a sump pump with water assisted backup. That thing worked like a charm when the power went out for 1 1/2 days in our latest winter blast. Through multiple rainy periods and the latest bomb cyclone, my 80 year old basement is dry!!! Thanks Dean! I'll only refer you for waterproofing.

Straight Answers

What Homeowners Ask First

Why does my basement only get wet after heavy rain?

Because the clay soil around Montgomery County foundations holds water instead of draining it. After a hard storm, that water sits against your walls and floor and pushes its way in at the weakest point — usually the joint where the wall meets the floor. It isn't a hole to plug; it's pressure to relieve, which is what a perimeter drain does.

Does the inspection really cost nothing?

Nothing. Dean comes out, looks at what the water is doing, explains it, and gives you a price. If it turns out to be something minor — a grading fix, a downspout — he'll tell you that instead.

What is a french drain, in plain English?

A channel along the inside perimeter of the basement, down at the footing, filled with stone and a sloped pipe. Water that used to push up through your floor edge falls into the channel instead and runs to a sump pit, where a pump sends it out and away from the house.

My house is old — stone foundation. Can that be waterproofed?

Yes. Ambler's older homes weep through stone and mortar rather than cracking like block, and the approach is different — but one of Dean's customers wrote that his '80 year old basement is dry' after a full perimeter system. Old houses are normal work here, not a special case.

What happens if the power goes out in a storm?

That's exactly when you need the sump most, which is why Dean installs backup systems. One customer's backup ran for a day and a half through a winter power cut and the finished basement stayed dry.

Do you do small jobs, or only full systems?

Both. Some basements need a full perimeter drain; some need a crack sealed or a drain added around a water heater. One review describes exactly that — a small drain by the water heater that saved the finished basement when the heater failed years later.

How fast can the work be done?

Most jobs are done quickly once scheduled — reviews mention crews that 'flew through the grunt work' and left no mess. Dean will give you a realistic timeline when he sees the job.

Do you fix work another company did badly?

Yes. Dean has taken over jobs mid-stream after homeowners fired another waterproofer, and made the system right. If you're stuck partway through a bad job, call — it's not the first time.
